New Vintage Furniture!

I've finally had time to refinish some GORGEOUS vintage furniture, so now Relish is re-stocked!

Most recently, I've refinished this stunning double-width mid-century dresser. It's done a a beautiful moss green (the colour is actually more of a mossy green than the photo shows), and the drawer hardware has been left in its original finish. And let me tell you, the combination looks amazing!

Here's the work in progress...

I've also got this adorable little nightstand (which would also look great as a side table) done in a lovely butter yellow.

And don't forget, the 50% off clothing sale is still on at Relish - hope to see you down here soon!

Waking Up in Winter

The other day I discovered a foolproof plan to be happy when waking up - even when it's dark and absolutly frigid outside. Here's my recipe:

1 hot beverage (I cannot live without my morning tea, but whatever floats your boat)
1 record player (or any other music-playing device, but a record playing has an extra yummy factor)
great music (selection will vary, but it HAS to be upbeat)

So, hot beverage - check. Like I said, for me it's tea - but I'm British, so that goes without saying. Preferably English Breakfast Tea. If it's actually from Britain it tastes infinately better. But whatever does it for you - coffee, espresso, latte, herbal tea...

As for the record player, this is something I bought as a gift to Ilya and me for the holidays. I got a great little portable suitcase-style one from Sears of all places!! It's amazing and works perfectly. Now after lugging around boxes of records for the last 6 years, we can finally actually listen to them!

Now for the music. What really made me happy the other morning (and has initiated this whole routine) was this amazing Ray Charles record that I didn't even know we owned. SO, SO, SO GOOD!

Really, what more can I say except this combo put a great big smile on my face?

Busy, busy!

I was very busy here at Relish yesterday. What better way to refresh your space than to completely re-arrange everything?

And that's just what I did. With some help, I moved some beautiful furntiure upstairs to the "loft" ...

... and moved all of the clothing downstairs.

Now you can all see these lovely clothes as soon as you walk in the door. Perfect!

Come on down and check it out, and let me know what you think!

Life Updates

I finally did it!

After 6 weeks of using every excuse in the book (including the shop, the holidays, sleeping and decorating) I FINALLY dragged by butt back to the gym this morning. Woo hoo! I get a big high five for this, cause that first day back is always the hardest, plus there's the shame of finally showing your face and having the trainers ask, "so where have you been?" Awesome. But I did it, and am feeling better already. I just have to re-train myself to get up super-early and we'll be all set. Did I mention I'm also trying to cut back on coffee? Yikes.

So now that my workouts are getting back on track, time to report on that cleaning challenge I took on.

Remember that 30-Day Cleaning Schedule I decided to tackle? Well, I still say it's awesome, although I do admit I took a total hiatus from the thing for the last 3 weeks or so. Whoops. But I've gotten back on track with the challenge this week as well, and it really is amazing. Nice small-sized jobs that are easy to tackle instead of waking up on Sunday morning and realizing that today you have to vaccuum, swiffer, dust, do laundry, clean the bathrooms, change the bedding and deal with the huge explosion of "stuff" that seems to have happened on your dining room table. SO much better!

For example, my job today is to deep clean the living room, which means dust artwork and odd spots I don't normally reach, and wipe down the baseboards. That's it. No tidying is even required today. Not too bad, huh?

New Awesome Vintage!

Ok, getting back into the swing of things here. I was admittedly light on the blogging during December, but I'll make it up to you, I promise! And have I got some gems for you today, all available at Relish!

Check out this gorgeous teal dresser, refinished by yours truly.

And here's another super-cute vintage dresser I picked up with those great mid-century lines.

And just in case you didn't see this one in the shop over the holiday, there is also an amazing retro bar cart at Relish right now - refinished in bright red, of course!

And don't forget the sales at Relish - all holiday decor is 30% off and all clothing is 40% off. It's too big to miss!!!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone!!

Hope you all did lots of visiting and relaxing and are now ready to attack the new year. I had a really, really great holiday season. I spent the last week at my parents' house near Ottawa, so there was lots of family time and visiting and catching up and dog-walking through the fields. There was also A LOT of sleeping and eating cookies and chocolates and huge dinners. It was wonderful!

Now I can't honestly say that my New Year's Eve was very eventful - my sister and I spent the day driving back to Hamilton from Ottawa, bought some much-needed groceries and then made dinner and watched movies. I'm sad to report that neither one of us lasted until midnight. Whoops! But the sleeping was just SO good, we couldn't help it!

I'm not sure if most people have taken down their tree by now, but I love mine so much I try to leave it up until the last minute. Which I think will be this Sunday. But if you still have some packing up of holiday decor to do, WAIT!...

Relish is having a sale right now of all the beautiful holiday decor that is still in stock, so you can pack it away for a great surprise next year! That's right, all holiday decor is on sale!!!

There are lots of lovely things left - vintage ornaments, plate sets, vintage holiday glassware, handmade garlands, and cards and gift tags.

So get in here to Relish, quick!
