More Chalk Paint Projects!

Yep, still working away with that amazing product, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, here at Relish. Last week I finished a couple of vintage chairs (which looks amazing painted, by the way) and a little girl's vanity with a flip-up mirror.

Here are a few pics of the work as it progresses on the vintage kid's chair...

Just look at this amazing Antibes Green colour! I mixed it with the Pure White to get this nice muted bright green for the kid's chair.

Stay tuned for more projects and products here at Relish!

Lovefresh is Back at Relish!

That's right - Lovefresh, the delicious handmade line of body goodies is back in stock at Relish. We now have lots of scents in both lotions and washes that are perfect for your kitchen counter, powder room, guestroom, or better yet, to keep for yourself! The lotions are perfect for a countertop to use as a hand lotion, but are actually a body lotion as well. And the washes are again perfect for next to the sink, but are also super in the shower as a body wash. Yum!

And for those of you who went crazy over the Lemon Verbena scent last time, you'll be happy to know we've got these in stock in both the wash and the lotion, along with Pomegranate, Pear, and Water Lily. And we even have a few body scrubs left. If you haven't tried these, let me tell you - they are absolute indulgence. It's like being at the spa in your own shower. Love, love them.

Hands down, these scrubs are my favourite product! And don't forget, these products are all handmade just down the road in Toronto, and are all paraben-free and petroleum-free. Not to mention they all smell absolutely gorgeous.

And don't forget that Art Crawl is tomorrow - I hope to see you all!

More New Vintage at Relish!

As promised, here are some of the great vintage goodies that have come into Relish in the last week or so....

I found this amazing piece just last weekend. I LOVE the fleur-de-lis motif. It's fairly heavy, being solid metal, and would make a great centrepiece (maybe filled with lemons or green apples) or even an outdoor planter lined with moss.

This gorgeous chair is a solid-wood pressed-back rocker - in a stunning shade of green. Very solid and super-comfortable - this one was really hard to bring to the shop instead of my own house!

And this amazing mid-century chair not only has a great silhouette, but has also been freshly re-upholstered in a crisp white that looks just amazing with the wood frame.

Now these are just a few of the goodies.... you'll have to come by and visit me at Relish to see all the great pieces in here right now. And it's such a beautiful week for weather, this is the perfect excuse to take a stroll outside!

Refinishing with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint at Relish!

Ok time for the unveiling....  I've been working on a gorgeous drop-leaf table, and it is now all done, re-assembled and on display. Have a look!

This table is also very cute without the leaves attached....

For this table, I tried out a new product that becoming crazy-popular: Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I LOVE this stuff. It coats wonderfully, is completely user-friendly (you can mix your own colours, water it down for a whitewash, thicken it, distress it, wax it, do multiple colour layers, you name it!), it's incredibly low VOC, and it turns out beautifully. And most importantly, there is no surface prep required!!! Yep, that's right, no sanding, no stripping. I think I'm in love.

Now here are the before and work-in-progress photos for this table....

the old, untouched table - kinda boring brown finish

old table with a couple of coats of whitewash on the top - this is the matte, unwaxed finish

And these are the legs - all painted up, but only the right-hand leg has been distressed. See how distressing brings out the detail? Gorgeous!

Now for this table, I did play around with the Annie Sloan colours I picked up. I started off my supplies with a can of Pure White, a can of Duck Egg Blue, and also a couple of sample pots of Antibes Green and Barcelona Orange (cause I just can't resist the neon colours!). The colour on this table is a mixture of White, Duck Egg, and Antibes Green - of course I don't remember the proportions, but I think it was something close to 1:1:1.

Stay tuned - coming up is a taste of all the really great new vintage pieces in Relish right now, and there are some serious gems!
